God has given each of us specific gifts and talents in a variety of areas. The list below is a short description of areas where volunteer positions are available.

Please join us Sunday, June 13th at 12:15 in the Conference Room to hear about the Kirk’s new Connect Ministry. We will have a short training after the discussion. If you are interested in helping visitors to the Kirk get connected to the Kirk family, then come and hear about this new venture.

Children’s Ministries - Are you up for the excitement – and the challenges – of helping every child feel that they are a treasured gift of God and learn how to honor God in all that they do?
Youth Ministries – Would you like to help our youth become passionate, fully-devoted followers of Christ?
Adult Ministries - Are you ready to help people make new connections through Bible studies, small groups or volunteer opportunities?
Care Ministries – Can you offer a loving Christian presence in times of need? We have people who need the support and prayers of a Christian friend to get them on the journey toward healing and wholeness.
Outreach Opportunities – Can you help tutor a child or do you want to help those who serve in other countries? Can you help build wheelchair ramps or deliver meals for needy Tulsans?
Kitchen Ministries – Do you have a gift of hospitality or cooking? We need you to help on Wednesday evenings and at special events.
Events – Do you love the excitement of planning and organizing large events? Do you want to be on the inside of “One Nation Under God”, our Fall Festival, or Advent Festival.
Administrative Opportunities – Help keep our building and sanctuary beautiful and inviting. Or come help the newsletter stuffing team each month.
Sunday Morning Opportunities – Help us worship the Lord with singing, acting, or playing an instrument. Or you could help on a occasional Sunday morning – with the audio and video presentations, help with Grand Central food, at the receptionist desk, as an usher or a greeter.

The Kirk Hospitality Ministry
The Kirk Hospitality Ministry exists to provide an atmosphere that reflects the love of Christ to all our guests (visitors and members) by providing them with a feeling of inclusion, warmth and genuine friendship in such a way that they will want to return.
Elements Common To All HM Positions
Below this section you will find a brief description of the various positions in the Hospitality Ministry. While each of the positions has elements that are particular to its position, there are elements that are necessary to all the positionswithin the Hospitality Ministry. These common elements are as follows.
People in all these positions should possess an overwhelming desire to provide a feeling of inclusion, warmth and genuine welcome to all those who attend the Kirk.
Desired Skills and Gifts:
- Positive, warm, friendly and hospitable manner.
- Energetic and always smiling.
- Willingness to serve others.
- Punctual and dependable.
Responsibilities:
- Be on time for your scheduled position
- Find a substitute if you find you are unable to fulfill your commitment
- Be on the lookout for ways to improve our service to visitors and members
- Keep your scheduling coordinator apprised of your availability
- Recruit two new Hospitality volunteers each year.
- Attend Scheduled training.
Term of Service: One year
Hospitality Positions
Shuttle Ambassador
Basic Function: to deliver passengers to/from parking area and church in a manner that ensures their safety.
Special Gifts: Acute awareness of road safety and surroundings; Ability to talk to passengers while maintaining focus on safe driving; ability to be assertive when necessary to insure safety of all passengers.
Zone: In the Shuttles, traveling to and from Kirk and the offsite parking area.
Reports to: Shuttle Ambassador CLL
Parking Ambassador
Basic Function: To provide a friendly greeting to drivers as they enter the Kirk property paying special attention to visitors; To provide a security presence in the parking lots; To direct guests to available and special parking.
Special Gifts: Enjoys being outdoors; Delights in making grand gestures (waving, etc.) to ensure that people in cars notice them.
Zone: Kirk Parking Lots
Reports to: Parking Ambassador CLL
Greeter
Basic Function: To ensure that everyone who enters the Kirk is greeted in a way that makes them feel welcome.
Special Gifts: Strong desire to make sure that absolutely every person that enters the Kirk receives a warm welcome; Ability to engage and disengage in a friendly manner.
Zone: All Major Doorways into the Kirk.
Reports to: Greeter CLL
Atrium Hosts
Basic Function: To approach people and engage people in conversation. To escort guests who need assistance finding their way around the Kirk.
Special Gifts: Keen ability to identify newcomers; Excellent working knowledge of all Church Programs and their location; Fearlessness in approaching people.
Zone: All Interior Lobby Areas: East Lobby, Narthex; Upper Room Lobby
Reports to: Atrium Host CLL
Lead Usher
Basic Function: Be responsible for providing Ushers what they need in order to fulfill their function; Be prepared at all times to assist the congregation and worship leaders in the event of emergency; Help recruit and train ushers; Stays “on duty” for the entire service.
Special Gifts: Strong desire to ensure the Gospel is heard by those attending; Highly organized; Ability to track multiple priorities; ability to be assertive while maintaining a helpful demeanor; Physical ability to move crowds up and down stairs and lift heavy objects.
Zone: Area inside and immediately outside the Worship Room.
Reports to: Traditional or Contemporary Usher CLL
Usher
Basic Function: To perform the specific duties of the worship service such as, but not limited to: Handing out bulletins and other aids; Provide seating assistance; Collecting offering; Assisting with Communion; Restoring the Worship Space after each service.
Special Gifts: Strong desire to ensure that everyone has what they need in order to hear the Word of God; Ability to perform a number of tasks at once while maintaining a cheerful and helpful countenance; Ability to spot those who need special attention and respond accordingly.
Zone: Area inside and immediately outside the Worship Room.
Reports to: Lead Usher
Worship Room Hosts
Basic Function: To cause person to person contact in the worship room; To be in the worship room as people are entering for worship; To engage people especially those who appear to be visitors; To introduce people to those around them; To encourage visitors to meet the pastor after the service.
Special Gifts: Excellent Conversation Skill; Fearlessness in approaching people; Special sensitivity to those who are in prayer or are preparing themselves for worship.
Zone: Inside the Worship Room.
Reports to: Atrium Host CLL
Guest Services
Basic Function: To welcome and provide information and assistance to our guests as needed.
Special Gifts: Knowledge of all Kirk Programs and Special Events; Enjoys doing whatever it takes to achieve the purpose of the HM; Good problem solving skills.
Zone: Guest Services
Reports to: Guest Services CLL
Front Desk
Basic Function: To provide assistance to visitors and members; To answer the phone and answer questions and pass on information; To act as a communication hub.
Special Gifts: Cheerful Disposition; Excellent phone skills; Ability to handle multiple priorities; Good problem solving skills.
Zone: Front Desk, inside office
Reports to: Front Desk CLL
Floater
Basic Function: To assist as needed in any of the Hospitality Ministry Positions.
Special Gifts: Knowledge of all the Hospitality Ministry Positions; Enjoys doing whatever it takes to achieve the purpose of the HM; Good problem solving skills; Willingness to step in as needed.
Zone: The Kirk
