Riley (6th grade)

Welcome to the "Dog Pound!" The Riley Ministry provides 6th graders an important transitional year between the elementary and youth ministries. As parents know, 6th grade can be a challenging year as our preteens begin to question the assumptions of previously learned lessons in all areas of their life. In Riley, kids have a safe setting to address and discuss these issues as they grow and mature in their faith.

RILEY \ri-lee\, noun:
The transitional 6th grade ministry at the Kirk that serves as a bridge between the elementary and youth ministries.

Riley will provide your 6th grader:

  • A year to begin applying the Biblical knowledge they’ve gained in their elementary years,
  • a year to bond with the other 6th graders and
  • another year to mature in Christ, before merging with the mid-high and senior-high youth.
  • Riley kids study and discuss God’s word, serve Kirk supported missions and ministries and enjoy many other opportunities for fun and fellowship.

Riley Ruckus Night

This is a fun, social night for Riley kids to go out together to awesome places like Incredible Pizza and Laser Quest, or to enjoy a cookout and movie night in "The Dog Pound." Every summer, Riley kids go to different homes for "swim and scripture" get togethers in Riley family homes. At Christmas they celebrate with an awesome Christmas party. Through these events, Riley kids bond with each other and form strong Christian friendships that will carry them through their youth years.

Riley Mission Projects

In keeping with the Kirk vision of "mature, minister and make a difference," a Riley kids serve the church and community through a variety of missions projects. These projects vary from clean-up work around the church, planning events for area boys and girls homes, raising money to benefit Kirk supported missions and donating much needed items to these organizations.
